When you use MementoHub, we collect the following types of data: (a) Account information: email address, name, and authentication credentials. (b) Content data: observations, decisions, discoveries, notes, and other mementos you create and store through the Service. (c) Session metadata: timestamps, project identifiers, session IDs, and usage patterns. (d) Device information: device identifiers, browser type, and IP address when using cloud sync features. (e) Usage analytics: feature usage patterns, sync frequency, and performance metrics.

2. How We Store Your Data

Your data is stored using two primary mechanisms: (a) Local storage: Mementos are stored locally on your device using SQLite databases. This data remains under your direct control. (b) Cloud storage: When you enable cloud sync, your mementos are transmitted to and stored on our secure servers. Data in transit is encrypted using TLS. Data at rest encryption levels vary by plan.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data solely for the purpose of providing and improving the MementoHub service. Specifically: (a) To store, sync, and retrieve your mementos across devices and sessions. (b) To provide search functionality across your observations. (c) To maintain your account and authenticate your access. (d) To improve service reliability and performance. We do NOT sell, rent, or share your personal data or mementos with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

4. Security

MementoHub implements industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and access controls. However, no method of electronic storage or Internet transmission is 100% secure.

Advanced encryption features, including enhanced at-rest encryption and end-to-end encryption, are available only on paid plans.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can delete individual mementos at any time through the Service. Upon account deletion, we will remove your personal data and mementos from our servers within a reasonable period. Local data stored on your device is not affected by account deletion and must be removed manually.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

MementoHub uses cookies and local storage for: (a) Authentication: session tokens to keep you signed in. (b) Preferences: theme selection (light/dark mode), language preference, and UI settings. (c) Local data: your mementos are stored locally in SQLite databases on your device. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies. You can manage cookie settings through your browser preferences.

7. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data: (a) Access: You can view and export all your data at any time via the Service. (b) Correction: You can edit or update your mementos and account information. (c) Deletion: You can delete individual mementos or your entire account. (d) Portability: You can export your data in JSON, XML, or TXT formats. (e) Objection: You can object to the processing of your data by contacting us.

8. Children's Privacy

MementoHub is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, we will delete such information promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
